Deadly Currents by Elizabeth Goddard - A Book Review

  

When I began reading Deadly Currents, I just couldn't get into it. It wasn't bad, I just didn't connect, but then, around the halfway point, something happened. Everything began to fall in place. The characters became someone I could care about. The mystery became intriguing, and I couldn't put the book down. If my to-be-read pile wasn't growing at such an alarming rate, I would reread Deadly Currents right away with a new lens for the first half of the book.

Cressida's story of being betrayed by her mother, dealing with the death of her father, and trying to rescue her writing career and honor her father by completing the book he was writing at the time of his death becomes quite complicated while researching the final chapter of her father's book. Suddenly she is under attack and is becoming aware that her father's death might not have been an accident. She has no idea whom she can trust. Her story includes a ghost ship, pirates, murder, and just a touch of romance. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of Deadly Currents from Revell via NetGalley without obligation. Perilous Tides by Elizabeth Goddard - A Book Review

  

Romantic suspense books can become very patterned and predictable. Elizabeth Goddard avoided that quite well when writing Perilous Tides with a quite unpredictable, original plot. Jo Cattrel has been hiding out in the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state for three years, ever since her mother's telling Jo to hide if anything ever happened to her, followed not long afterward by her murder. Having connected with her biological father following her mother's funeral, Jo had settled down into her new life, her real problem being the rejection by her almost boyfriend, well that and always feeling like she had to look over her shoulder. There is a reason for the saying about being paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't after you, and after her they are! Now Jo is ready to take a stand and hunt down the person who is hunting her. There will be a lot of pain along with the danger she will face while tracking down this threat.

This intense story is filled with twists, turns, and dead ends. Sometimes it is difficult to discern whom should be trusted and whom should not. Throughout, the reader will be thoroughly enthralled. I highly recommend Perilous Tides and the Hidden Bay series of which it is the second book. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy from Revell via NetGalley without obligation. Storm Warning by Elizabeth Goddard - A Book Review

  

Elizabeth Goddard holds her readers firmly in the palm of her hand from start to finish in her most recent novel, Storm Warning. The powerful storms rolling into the Pacific Northwest mirror the storms threatening Remi Grant. Yet, while she can see the storm clouds gathering, tumbling over one another, heading her way, helping her to predict their impact and to know how to prepare, her amnesia makes those things impossible for the storms of life headed her way. Helicopter pilot Hawk Beckett has flown through his share of storms while in the 160^th Special Operations Aviation Regiment Night Stalkers. Since leaving the Night Stalkers he has been flying through personal storms. Now that he and Remi's lives have intersected, the storms are intensifying for them both.

I highly recommend Storm Warning for fans of romantic suspense. The action, intrigue, and personal lives of the main characters are all quite intense. The physical storms almost seem as if they are a character in the story as Goddard reveals their impact and ferocity. Surprises abound.

Hidden in the Night by Elizabeth Goddard - A Book Review

   

This conclusion to Goddard's Missing in Alaska series is an adventurous story. It even includes a storyline involving a lost manuscript written by the Alaska adventure writer Jack London, along with storylines about a missing granddaughter, a murdered uncle, blackmail, sabotage, and black ops operators, along with a touch of romance. This book has it all! Readers will be compelled to keep reading until all the facts are sorted out, and there are so many facts that they muddy the waters more than clear them up. The book is written in typical Goddard fashion, and her fans won't be disappointed.

Shadows at Dusk by Elizabeth Goddard - A Book Review

  

Elizabeth Goddard always provides readers with fast-paced, high-action, romantic suspense, heavy on the suspense. It is what make me always keep an eye out for her next book. I am especially enjoying her Missing in Alaska series of which Shadows at Dusk is the second installment. In this story Detective Trevor West is searching for his missing sister, a geologist who went missing while on leave from her job at EchoGlobal. He hires bush pilot Carrie James to assist with his search, and almost immediately gets sucked into the danger that is following her, possibly from her distant past. Alaska is a beautiful backdrop to this intense tale, and the lead characters have multiple opportunities to fly over and hike through its beautiful and perilous terrain.

Fans of Robin Patchen, Irene Hannon, and Lynette Eason are likely to be or to become fans of Eizabeth Goddard as well. Shadows at Dusk works very well as a stand-alone read. If you do happen to read it first, I've no doubt you will find yourself going back to the first book in the series which is equally as entertaining.

Cold Light of Day by Elizabeth Goddard - A Book Review

  

Cold Light of Day is an outstanding romantic suspense novel set in a small community along the Inside Passage of the Alaska Panhandle. What better place for someone to disappear from a life they chose to leave behind, or perhaps were forced to leave behind? Shadow Gap Chief of Police Autumn Long had years of law enforcement experience, handling circumstances in the wilds of Alaska unknown to most United States law enforcement officers, but was she prepared when murders began happening in her small town? All outsiders come under suspicion, but possibly someone more familiar might be responsible. Elizabeth Goddard keeps readers on the edge of their seats with this intriguing plot and the harsh realities of life in Alaska. The mental images she paints of the beautiful Alaskan landscape and sea and river scapes are stunning. She also paints a picture of isolation broken only by choosing to become a part of a small tight knit community in Alaska's towns separated by vasts amount of land from major cities,or even larger towns. I anxiously await book two in her Missing in Alaska series.

Deadly Target by Elizabeth Goddard - A Book Review

   

Deadly Target is an edge-of-your-seat read. I finished it in two days, anxious to discover answers to this multi-faceted mystery. Abductions, explosions, shootings, vehicle incidents, and more drive this story forward at the same time as they generate more questions for the main characters and the readers as well. While the danger is palpable, fear is much less so because of the faith the characters demonstrate. I recommend this book to romantic suspense fans, both those who prefer secular books and those who prefer Christian fiction.

Present Danger by Elizabeth Goddard - A Book Review

   

That time when you are reading a suspense novel and proclaim aloud, “Well, I didn't see that coming,” and it happens not once, but twice in Present Danger! This book is a great start to Elizabeth Goddard's new series, Rocky Mountain Courage, a tale wrapped around events of the past that come back to wreak havoc in the present. Grayback County Sheriff's Detective Jack Tanner and US Forest Service Special Agent Terra Connors must learn to forget the past they had and the future they wish for in order to work together to solve a case of antiquity smuggling which likely has led to murder. Goddard has written a well-laid plot with believable dialogue, and plenty of red herrings to keep her readers engaged as they follow Jack and Terra;s investigation.

Always Look Twice by Elizabeth Goddard - A Book Review

     

While being the second book in Goddard's Uncommon Justice series, Always Look Twice works well as a stand alone read. As I read, I had a suspicion that I was stepping into a series, but it in no way impacted my ability to understand and enjoy this book.

Harper Reynolds and her sister, Emily, were nearing the end of a year's traveling and camping together, a trip designed to help Harper heal from the emotional trauma of her childhood and her job as a crime scene photographer. Little did they know of the trauma that was yet to come as they camped near their childhood home. Harper's reconnection with her childhood best friend, deputy and rancher Heath McKade, was both a comfort and a challenge for both of them. Both broken and afraid to take emotional risks, neither was sure what to do about the attraction between them, nor did they have time to process it with the violent acts being perpetrated in the small town of Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Always Look Twice is a story of hope, redemption, and second chances. It is engaging with a fast moving plot and characters one can care about.
