Cornered by Lynette Eason, Lynn H. Blackburn, and Natalie Walters

Cornered includes three novellas by three top romantic suspense authors. Each of the novellas includes familiar characters from the authors' recent series along with some new faces. Readers familiar with Lynette Eason, Lynn H. Blackburn, and Natalie Walters will enjoy these new offerings. Those unfamiliar with any or all of these authors will have the opportunity to read a short sample of their work to decide if they want to look for previous and future works, especially those with ties to these novellas. While I really enjoyed all three stories, Down Fall by Lynn H. Blackburn was my favorite. I found Chef Cassie Quinn very easy to empathize with as she worked to cope with her vulnerability. Even through I found Down Fall the best, it doesn't mean the others aren't compelling; they are, as each leading lady finds herself cornered in a dangerous situation. Each of these novellas felt complete and unrushed even though they were brief, this is likely due to my being familiar with some of the characters and settings.

Blind Trust by Natalie Walters - A Book Review

Agents at the SNAP Agency find themselves in the position of investigating threats made against one of their own, Agent Lyla Fox. Lyla's impulsive nature and her high tolerance of risk make protecting her difficult, and especially stressful to Agent Nicolรกs Garcia. Tensions between the two increase as does their awareness of the attraction between them. Natalie Walters has penned a romantic suspense with international intrigue, danger, family drama, and romance with just a bit of sizzle. Suspicions are planted and surprises spring at just the right times to keep readers thoroughly engaged with the story. The humor provided by the team's self-proclaimed IT genius is well played providing the needed break when tensions reach the breaking point. Blind Trust is a very enjoyable read.

Targeted: Novellas by Lynette Eason, Lynn H. Blackburn and Natalie Walters – A Book Review

I don't typically read novellas, but I was drawn to this collection because I have read most of the books these authors have written. I enjoyed these novellas because I knew the backstory of most of the major players who are characters or relatives of characters featured in previous books. The suspense elements of all three novellas were very good, and the pace was good even with the shorter length. The romance elements however felt very rushed in each of them which impacted the feel of authenticity of the stories. I would recommend Targeted to fans of these authors, and to those without a lot of time to read.

Fatal Code by Natalie Walters - A Book Review

At first I thought this book was going to be a difficult one to finish. There is a Hawaiian character which led the author to use the word brah, slang for brother, thirty-eight times. Annoying, the repetition, not the character. There were also references to a popular television show that some, perhaps many, readers of Christian fiction would likely opt not to watch due to its content, thus the references lack any positive impact. It also made me wonder about the author's choice to basically promote the show. However, since the plot was interesting and well played, I did finish the book. It involved espionage, murder, and cyber-security, so the author hadn't gone completely wrong.

Silent Shadows by Natalie Walters - A Book Review

Silent Shadows (Harbored Secrets Book #3)  Natalie Walters

While much of this story does not seem very realistic, it is a sweet romance filled with intrigue. The author carries the theme of God's allowing tough times in order to take us to a better place in our lives, a much needed concept in our current times. Some readers of Christian fiction may feel as if Natalie Walters skirted the borders of the genre, but I do feel that overall they will appreciate the story, writing style and message.

Living Lies by Natalie Walters - A Book Review

Living Lies (Harbored Secrets Book #1)

Walters uses this romantic suspense novel to tackle the issues of mental illness, depression and suicide as well as the stigma attached to them. She does so with great empathy and compassion. Readers will walk away with renewed understanding of themselves whether as a sufferer or someone who interacts with someone openly dealing with these issues or someone living with the lies these issues speak to them. I highly recommend the novel Living Lies.

Lane Kent would describe herself as broken and unworthy. Her friends would describe her as empathetic and selfless. The burden of guilt she carried weighed heavily on her, and blinded her to the possibilities for the future. Deputy Charlie Lynch, a former Marine, knew what he wanted out of life, it was the reason he had come to Walton, Georgia, and he knew it needed to include Lane Kent. Convincing her that they had a future was something he was willing to work at for as long as it took. The fact that Lane's life seemed to be in danger from the perpetrator of Walton's first murder in thirty years only increased Charlie's desire to keep her close. Fans of romantic suspense will be excited to add Natalie Walters to their list of favorite authors.
